Persona skill

Execution

Execution is how you turn a plan into visible action: a clear next step, an owner and a deadline, carried through to done.

What it looks like at work

  • Ending a meeting with a named next step, an owner and a date
  • Breaking a goal into steps small enough to start today
  • Sharing a first version instead of polishing in private
  • Noticing a blocker early and raising it

When it shows up often

When it shows up often in your answers, you may be the person who gets things over the line, and teams rely on that. Watch for pushing on with a plan after the evidence has changed, and for taking on more than you can finish well.

When it shows up less

When it shows up less, you may spend more time thinking, exploring or connecting people than driving tasks to done, and those are real contributions. When something matters, one visible next action with an owner and a date is often all it needs.

Self-insight, not a diagnosis or a hiring decision.

Ways to practise it

  1. After your next conversation that ends in a decision, write down one next action, its owner and its deadline, and share it.
  2. Pick one goal and build a two-week rhythm around it: one owner, one measure and one review point.
  3. Choose one piece of work you have been polishing and share a first version this week, with a note on what you will improve next.

Questions

Is execution just working harder?

No. It is about turning intent into visible next steps and finishing them. Clear owners and dates often matter more than effort.

Can strong execution have a downside?

Yes, when speed outruns the evidence. Pair it with a quick check that the plan still makes sense before the next push.
