Fleet management for delivery drivers and vehicles

Keep every driver and vehicle in one list: shifts, stop limits, capacity, mileage and service intervals. Atlas works out when a vehicle is due for service, by kilometres and by date, and shows how it got there. It also flags vehicle papers and driving licences before they run out.

The problem

Small fleets, big gaps

Many delivery fleets mix two-wheelers, three-wheelers, vans and trucks, and the details that matter live in different places: shift timings in one register, the last service in a mechanic's notebook, capacity in someone's head. The gaps show up as a van off the road on a busy day, or a driver given more stops than a shift can hold.

A fleet list does not need to be complicated. It needs each driver and each vehicle once, with the few numbers that decide what they can take on today.

How Atlas keeps the fleet

Fleet has three tabs: drivers, vehicles and capacity.

  • DriversIn Atlas: Fleet › DriversEach driver has a phone, a status (active, off duty or inactive), a home place, a default vehicle, a shift start and end, a maximum number of stops a day and a driving licence. A driver's page shows today's routes, open tasks and a 30-day delivery record.
  • VehiclesIn Atlas: Fleet › VehiclesEach vehicle has its registration, type from two-wheeler to heavy commercial vehicle, fuel (diesel, petrol, CNG or electric), capacity in kilograms and cubic metres, mileage and odometer.
  • Service due, worked out in the openIn Atlas: Fleet › VehiclesGive a vehicle a service interval in kilometres, in days or both, and its last service. Atlas shows when the next service falls due by each measure and the arithmetic behind it.
  • Papers and licences before they run outIn Atlas: Fleet › VehiclesRecord the last valid day of each vehicle's insurance, fitness certificate, permit and PUC certificate, and of each driver's licence on the driver's page. Atlas marks a date expired or due within 30 days, flags the most urgent paper in the vehicles list, and Today counts the vehicles with papers due.
  • Capacity across the teamIn Atlas: Fleet › CapacitySee each driver's planned stops against their daily limit, so you know who can take more before you assign it.
  • Scorecards from the recordIn Atlas: Fleet › DriversA driver's scorecard and coaching points come from their record in Atlas, such as work done, blocked or overdue, so a conversation starts from facts.

Set up your fleet

  3. Set service intervals

Give each vehicle its interval in kilometres or days, and its last service.

  4. Plan with capacity

Check Fleet › Capacity before you assign another route or task.

  5. Keep odometers current

Update the odometer so the service-due point stays right.

Honest limits

What fleet management does not do yet

Better to read it here than to find out on a busy morning.

  • No telematics or GPS hardwareOdometer, mileage and service dates are entered by hand; Atlas reads no vehicle tracker or fuel card yet.
  • Paper dates are entered by handAtlas does not read them from Vahan or Sarathi or check them there, and it does not keep the registration certificate's validity yet. Our resources page links the official services.
  • No driving-behaviour dataScorecards use the delivery record only; there is no speed, braking or idling data from a device.

Questions about fleet management

Still have a question? Ask us

Can Atlas tell me when a vehicle is due for service?

Yes. By kilometres, once the vehicle has its odometer, the odometer at its last service and an interval in km; a vehicle with no km interval uses the one in Settings › Rates. By date, once it has its last service date and its own interval in days, which has no fallback. Atlas shows each due point and how it worked it out.

Does Atlas track insurance, fitness, permit or PUC expiry?

Yes. Record the last valid day of each vehicle's insurance, fitness certificate, permit and PUC certificate, and of each driver's licence. Atlas marks a date expired or due within 30 days, and Today counts the vehicles with papers due. The registration certificate's validity is not kept yet.

Which vehicles can I add?

Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, cars, vans, and light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, running on diesel, petrol, CNG or electricity. Mileage is kilometres per litre, or per kWh for an electric vehicle.

Is the driver scorecard based on GPS data?

No. It is worked out from the record in Atlas, such as work completed, blocked or overdue, incidents and how recently a location was recorded. There is no driving-behaviour data from a device.
