Dispatch software for delivery and field teams

Keep all of today's work in one queue, give each job a driver and a route, and move it from open to done with status rules that stop mistakes. Suggestions are rule-based, and nothing changes until you apply one.

The problem

Where dispatch breaks

Dispatch is where a plan meets the day. Jobs arrive late, a driver calls in sick, an urgent pickup lands at noon. When the work list lives in a chat group and on a whiteboard, nobody can see what is still open, who has what, or which job is stuck, until a customer complains.

A dispatcher needs one list that shows every job by status, who owns it, what is due first and what is blocked, and a quick way to move work between drivers without losing track of it.

How Atlas runs dispatch

Dispatch has three tabs: the board, the exceptions queue and suggestions.

  • One board by statusIn Atlas: Dispatch › BoardEvery task, whether a delivery, pickup, inspection, support visit or restock, sits on the board as open, scheduled, in progress, blocked, done or cancelled. Open work sorts before finished work, and urgent before low.
  • A driver, a route and a due timeIn Atlas: Dispatch › TaskOpen a task to set its driver, route, due time, priority and instructions. A route's detail lists the tasks that ride on it.
  • Status rulesIn Atlas: Dispatch › BoardA task can only move to the statuses its current state allows, and Atlas names the allowed moves if you try another, so finished work cannot quietly slip back into progress.
  • Rule-based suggestionsIn Atlas: Dispatch › SuggestionsSuggestions rank the tasks that need a decision, strongest first: a blocked task to clear, overdue work to speed up, an urgent task with nobody on it, a check-in to ask for. Each says why it was raised, and nothing changes until you apply it.
  • Who has roomIn Atlas: Fleet › CapacityEvery driver has a shift and a maximum number of stops a day, so you can see who has room before you hand over another job.

A dispatch day in Atlas

  1. Open the board

Start on Dispatch for the operating area you picked: open and scheduled work first.

  2. Give work an owner

Give each open task a driver, a route and a due time.

  3. Read the suggestions

Apply the rule-based suggestions that fit and leave the rest.

  4. Watch the exceptions

Keep the Exceptions tab open for late, failed and at-risk work.

  5. Close the day

Mark finished work done; anything still open stays at the top tomorrow.

Honest limits

What dispatch does not do yet

Better to read it here than to find out on a busy morning.

  • No driver appDrivers do not receive tasks on a phone yet. Share the day's work with them the way you do today.
  • No automatic assignmentAtlas suggests; it does not assign drivers on its own.
  • No messages to customersAtlas does not text or call customers about their delivery.

Questions about dispatch

Still have a question? Ask us

What is the difference between a task and a stop?

A stop is a place on a route. A task is a piece of work, such as a delivery or a pickup, with a status, a priority, a due time and instructions. A task can belong to a route and a place, or wait in the queue until you assign it.

Are Atlas suggestions made by AI?

No. Suggestions come from written rules over your tasks and routes, such as a blocked task, work past its due time or an urgent task nobody owns. Atlas calls them suggested or rule-based, and nothing changes until you apply one.

Can a dispatcher move a job from one driver to another?

Yes. Open the task and assign it to another driver or route. The change is recorded in the activity log, so the history stays visible.

Do drivers get their tasks on a phone?

Not yet. Atlas has no driver app today, so dispatchers share the work with drivers the way they already do and record progress in Atlas.
